In my primary line of research, I investigate the cognitive conflicts involved in difficult decisions — especially when people act in ways that are not financially sensible, healthy, sustainable, or morally sound

At the heart of my work is one central question:
Why do we often make decisions that contradict our attitudes and beliefs?

To investigate this, I use an experimental research approach, with a particular focus on experience-sampling and process-tracing methods. This allows me to examine decision-making in real time and real life, helping to uncover why and how people struggle with conflicting choices. Ultimately, this work contributes to a better understanding of how behavioral change can be fostered at both the individual and societal level.

I also enjoy communicating my research to the public. You may have come across my work in interviews, science slams, or articles featured on platforms like Deutsche Welle, Deutschlandfunk, and Quarks (WDR).

If you’re curious, feel free to explore my research or public outreach activities. Most of my publications are open access; if you have trouble accessing anything, send me an email!
